One of the
things that I have notice is that people who have won the X factor are only
around for a while. After winning, they sell an album or maybe even two albums
before they disappear and then BAM! Two years later, they’re back but again,
not for long. Let’s take a look at some examples.
Leona Lewis: She won X Factor in 2006, her debut
single of Kelly Clarkson’s, ‘A Moment like
This’,was a super hit and was number in the UK Singles Chart for four
weeks. However it was her single, ‘Bleeding
Love’, from her first album Spirits in 2007, that had been a great deal of
help in getting people to buy her album- not saying that her other songs
weren’t great but that was the breaking point. In 2009, her new single ‘Happy’ attracted attention to her, and
was number two on the UK Singles Chart. However during 2010, she did a bit of
touring before she disappeared. In 2011, her single, ‘Collide’ which she collaborated with Avicii, was four on the UK
Singles Chart however in the US is was crowd number 1 in Hot Dance Club Songs. Last year, in December, she brought out her
new Christmas single, ‘One More Night’; she is finally stable after she had
been signed on with another company.
Alexandra Burke: She won X Factor in 2008
which was the fifth series, for her ‘Hallelujah’ cover. After that,
there was a number of songs she presented like, ‘Bad Boys’, and ‘Start
Without You’ which came on to become big hits. In 2011, she went on tour
however she has lost her spot in the limelight. There isn’t any news on her on
websites like Capital FM.
It is
reported that she was the one to leave, Simon Cowell’s company, Syco to join
RCA Records, however who knows!Matt Cardle: He won in 2010, having One
Direction come 3rd in the competition; however that didn’t stop them
from becoming such a big hit. His debut single is a cover of ‘When We Collide’
which was popular when it came out but after a few months, it was old news but
was still repeated on radio shows. After Collide, he introduced the public to
his next single, ‘Run for Your Life’, which came 6th on the
UK Singles Chart. It was late in 2011, when he parted ways with Syco Music and
Columbia records but in 2012, joined with So What Recordings and released his
second album. Last year October, Cardle released a new album called ‘Porcelain’.
It is clear
that each X Factor finalist have moved on in life, however they are keeping
hold of the fame they once had, and I don’t mean to say that they don’t have
talent but to be honest, there is a lot of competition at the moment. However,
there is one artist who has been consistent and that is Olly Murs but even then, he also had a bit of a gap. Not forgetting
that Little Mix is doing well,
however who’s to say that will last long. The fame
that comes from X Factor only lasts for like a year before the artist becomes
old news as the next X Factor show starts.
In
conclusion, I wouldn’t be surprised if 1D splits up (however I do believe that
they will get back together…eventually). To be quiet frank; it was going to
happen anyway, as X Factor doesn’t seem to be able to hold onto artist/groups
for much long before they move on. It is clear those artists that are still
going on even after X Factor are making it because they are signed up to a
different company and not Simon Cowell’s company, Syco. Not only
that but each singer in One Direction has something going on, like Louise with
his football dreams coming true, Harry with his list of girls to catch with his
net, Zayn is planning a wedding(I think), Niall is looking for love and Liam is
hanging out with his girlfriend.Hell! Even
if they aren’t a group, they will always stay famous for their looks and are
bound to be linked to other artist/ celebrity friends.
